Atxarte is a ridge located in the Urkiola natural park, in Bizkaia region, 40kms from Bilbao. Despite the fact it's a natural park, there are two quarrys destroying the landscape. This is the only drawback of this climbing site, truly a paradise of good quality with an improving equipment.

From Durango, city close to Atxarte, you arrive from the A-8 highway from the San Sebastián or France, or from Vitoria or Madrid, you arrive from the N-1.
Once in Durango, take the N-634 to Matiena, then take Elorrio. Pass through Abadiño, take the Mendiola direction and you'll see Atxarte. (6kms from Durango)

Anchors :
Left side: 2 bolt m10 inox and 1 bolt m12 inox
Right side: 2 bolt m10 inox and 1 bolt m12 inox
There are more anchors on each side to reinforce the setup.

Linking :
From the right side, belay down 10m to the anchors of the right side.
To go to the left side, climb uphill and a small climbing leads to the peak (somebody else can belay the other guy). From the peak (1 bolt m12 inox + old anchors) belay down to the anchors of the left side.

Remarks:
It's just above a climbing route, be sure not to drop stones.

Atxarte es un desfiladero enclavado en el Parque Natural de Urkiola, en la provincia de Bizkaia, a 40 km de Bilbao. Aún siendo Parque Natural hay dos canteras que destrozan el paisaje. Es el único inconveniente que tiene esta escuela de escalada, verdadero paraíso de buena caliza y cada vez mejor equipamiento.

Hasta Durango, pueblo cercano a Atxarte, se llega por la autopista A-8 si se viene de S. Sebastián o Francia, o por el puerto de Urkiola si venimos de Vitoria, donde llegaremos por la N-1 desde Madrid. En Durango cogeremos la N-634 hasta Matiena, donde tomaremos dirección Elorrio. Pasaremos por Abadiño, cogiendo el desvío hacia Mendiola, y pronto veremos Atxarte. Desde Durango unos 6 kilómetros.

Anclajes:
Lado izquierdo : 2 bolt m10 inox y 1 bolt m12 inox
Lado derecho : 2 bolt m10 inox y 1 bolt m12 inox
Hay mas anclajes en ambos lados para reforzar las lineas.

Desde el derecho lado, rapel de 10m hasta los anclajes.
Para llegar al izquierdo pico, destrepar hasta el collado y una corta escalada hasta el pico (algun figurero viene bien para asegurar el paso). Desde el pico (1 bolt m12 1nox+ old anchors) rapelar hasta los anclajes del izquierdo lado.

Estas encima de una canal donde se escala, tener cuidado en no tirar piedras.
