France - Hortus - Cheminée Arnal 1 - L : 16m - H : 30m

Drive to Saint Mathieu de Tréviers then on the road to Saint Martin de Londres, you will see the cliff on the right.
2 options :
- Take a good track on the right and park at the end of it. From here reach the base of the cliff and go left to the Arnal chimney. Climb the Chimney (Good old 5th grade - 3 pitches - 100m). The highline crosses the chimney. 45mn

- Take the right road direction "Les Camps", park as soon as possible on the right. Then walk on the crest of l'Hortus until you find the characteristic gap of the Arnal Chimney (a bit after the summit of the cliff) 45mn

The line :
Where ?
The Arnal chimney is the most charateristic and bigger gap of the whole cliff. One side of the line is on the crest (good platform), the other side reaches the cliff.

Who - When ?
Opening : T.Melet, J.Millot, C. Domac in february 2010.

Anchors : (Bring 4 12mm bolt hanger for anchors)
- Platform side : 2 12mm wedge bolts for force, a good tree for backup.
- Cliff side : Belay from trees for 3 meters on the cliff. You will find 2 12mm wedge bolts for force. The third 10mm wedge bolt is unfortunately damage (not screwing correctly), so backup on the trees used for the belay.

Linking :
Turn around the gap with the webbing, gently fighting with trees. No big deal.

Rigging :
Primitiv system perfect on the platform side. Make sure to protect the webbing from scratches with a bag or a pad on this side.

Remarks : 
This line is perfect for initiation, as it is not exposed at all.

Aller à Saint Mathieu de Tréviers puis sur la route de Saint Martin de Londres, la falaise apparait sur la droite.
2 options :
- Prendre un chemin carrossable, se garer au fond. De là atteindre le bas de la falaise et la longer à gauche jusqu'à la cheminée Arnal. Grimper la cheminée (Bon vieux grade 5 - 3 longueurs - 100m). La ligne passe par dessus la cheminée. 45mn

- Prendre la route à droite direction "Les Camps", se garer sur la droite le plus tôt possible. De là suivre la crête de l'Hortus jusqu'à tomber sur la cheminée Arnal (un peu après le sommet). 45mn

La ligne :
Où ?
La cheminée Arnal est l'affaiblissement le plus caractéristique et gros de toute la falaise de l'Hortus. D'un côté, la ligne est sur la crête (bonne plateforme), de l'autre elle tape dans la falaise.

Qui - Quand ?
Ouverture : T.Melet, J.Millot, C. Domac en février 2010.

Ancrages : (Amener 4 plaquettes/rondelles/écrous de 12mm pour les ancrages)
- Côté plateforme : 2 spits de 12mm pour la force, un bon arbre pour le backup
- Côté falaise : Faire un relais sur arbres sur 3m pour tomber sur 2 spits de 12mm pour la force. Le filetage du troisième spit de 10mm est malheureusement endommagé, donc faire le backup sur les arbres du relais.

Passage de la ligne :
Passer autour du vide en se battant gentiment avec la végétation. Pas de problème particulier.

Tension:
Le Système Primitiv est parfait côté plateforme. Veillez à bien le protéger des frottements avec un sac ou un pad de ce côté.

Remarques : 
Ligne magnifique, très peu exposée, et visuellement peu engagée.
