Belgium - Namur(/Namen) - Grands Malades - L : 26m - H : 13m

There's a parking next to the climbing site (named "Grands Malades") behind a "Belisol" shop.
For reaching the end of the death ride you can do the whole via ferrata (you must ask the key at the Belgian Alpine Club ("Club Alpin Belge")), or you take a small path on your right while accessing to the climbing site. Then you'll see an easy way to climb the tower (It can be done with regular shoes and with gloves!). On top of the tower follow the via ferrata(wrong way). When you reach the end of the death ride, put your rappel there (so your friends can reach you), then you'll be able to access the anchor points of the first side.

One side of the line is near the end of the death ride (let's call it "1st side").

Who - When ?

Anchors :
-1st side : 2 meters down and 4 meters at the right of the end of the death ride : there's a belay (2 anchors). We used it for the force and backup. We also used the belay at the end of the death ride as an additional backup
- On the opposite side, make your choice between the 8-9 anchors points.

Linking :
It's done really easily, especially with a friend on the ground. Throw him a rope, he'll attach all the gear you need on your rope and then haul your rope. Done!

Rigging :
We used pulleys with a brake (Grigri, I'D,…). We placed the pulley on the 1st side. You can use a pulley on your anchor in order to be able the pull the rope down. Then 2 or 3 people can tighten the line while another person stay near the pulley to reset the multiplier.

Remarks :
Nice line. Quite impressive even if it's only 13 meters high.

Il y a un parking pour le site d'escalade (Les Grands Malades) derrière le magasin "Belisol".
Pour rejoinder le premier côté : soit faire la via ferrata, il faut demander la clef d'accès au Club Alpin Belge, soit monter sur la tour qui se trouve sur la droite lorsqu'on marche vers le site d'escalade. Il y a un petit sentier qui permet de monter un peu. Ensuite, une voie évidente permet d''arriver en haut de la tour (faisable en chaussure et avec des gants).
Une fois en haut, redescendre la via ferrata (à contre sens donc) pour arriver à la fin du death ride. Attacher un rappel là pour que les autres puissent vous rejoindre. Vous pourrez ainsi accéder au premier côté de la ligne.

Le premier côté se trouve près de la fin du death ride.

Qui - Quand ?

Ancrages :
- Le premier côté : un relai se trouve à peu près à 2 mètres en dessous et 4 mètres à droite de la fin du death ride. On a utilisé ce relai pour la force et le backup. On a aussi utilisé le relai de rappel comme backup supplémentaire.
- Pour le deuxième côté faire son choix parmi les 8-9 points disponibles.

Passage de la ligne :
Très facile, surtout avec un ami au sol. Lancer une corde à une personne au sol, il attache tout le matériel nécessaire, ramener le tout à vous. C'est fait !

Tension :
On a utilisé des poulies avec un frein (grigri, I'D, …). Les poulies étaient placées du premier côté. Un moyen facile pour tendre est d'utiliser une poulie supplémentaire sur le relai pour pouvoir tirer la corde vers le bas. Ensuite, tirer à deux-trois au sol avec une personne en haut pour ré-avancer à chaque fois le bloqueur sur les poulies.

Remarques :
Belle ligne. Quand même impressionnante, même si elle ne fait que 13 mètres de haut.
