France - Coupiac - Abîme de Rabanel - L : 25m - H : 100m

General Access : (Google Map)
From Montpellier, go to Saint Beauzille de Putois, then follow Brissac. When you arrive in Brissac, follow Ganges, and a few kilometers after turn left to go to Coupiac.
In Coupiac, park the car where you see the old road sign Abîme de Rabanel. Then take a south, south-west direction and follow the path during about two kilometers, see map attached for help.

For your information an abîme is a gap in the ground, I think it is called abyss in english.

The line :
Where ?
The line can be attached between two trees in the length of the abyss.

Who - When ?
Opened the 02/28/10 by Tancrède MELET.

Anchors :
- First Anchor (east) : use a oak tree which is obvious about 2-3 meters from the abyss.
- Second Anchor : use a oak tree which is obvious on the otherside. I must tell this second oak tree is not that big but it holds quite well.

Linking :
Use a rope, it's easy.

Rigging :
Primitiv system or pulleys.

Remarks :
The abîme de Rabanel is 115 meters deep, and you can actually go down abseiling. It is very interesting to visit.
It is really a funny feeling to highline above the bowels of the earth.

Accès Général : (Google Map)
De Montpellier, aller à Saint Beauzille de Putois, puis suivre Brissac. Une fois à Brissac, suivre Ganges, et quelques kilomètres après prendre à gauche direction Coupiac.
Dans Coupiac, se garer au niveau du vieux panneau Abîme de Rabanel. Puis prendre une direction sud,sud-ouest en suivant le chemin sur 2 kilomètres, voir la carte.

La ligne :
Où ?
La ligne peut être attachées entre 2 arbres dans la longueur de l'abîme.

Qui - Quand ?
Ouverte le 28/02/10 par Tancrède MELET.

Ancrages :
- Premier Ancrage (est) : utiliser un chêne évident à 2-3 mètres de l'abîme.
- Second Ancrage : utiliser un chêne aussi. Ce second chêne n'est pas si gros mais tient très bien.

Linking :
Très facile avec une corde.

Rigging :
Système Primitiv ou poulies.

Remarks :
L'abîme de Rabanel fait 115 mètres de profondeur, et il est possible d'y descendre en rappel. C'est interessant.
C'est vraiment très drôle de faire du highline au dessus des boyaux de la terre.
